Abstract
A single parent is an individual who raises one or more children without the support of a partner or spouse, whether due to separation, divorce, widowhood, or personal choice. In Somalia, single parenting is becoming increasingly common because of factors such as conflict, migration, divorce, and death. Children raised by single parents often face emotional, social, and economic challenges that can affect their education. Understanding these impacts is essential for improving children’s academic performance, well-being, and access to inclusive education. Single parenting presents both challenges and opportunities. Despite economic and emotional struggles, many single parents strive to provide education and stability for their children. By strengthening community support systems, school-based programs, and government policies, Somalia can ensure that every child, regardless of family background, has the chance to succeed in education and life.
