The 13th Annual Conference on Somali Studies brings together scholars, researchers, students, practitioners, policymakers and public figures to examine critical issues in Somalia's post-conflict recovery, state-building and long-term reconstruction. ACSOS2026 aims to foster inclusive dialogue across Somali studies, link scholarly research with practical application, and deepen understanding of Somalia, the Horn of Africa and Somali diaspora communities.
Who we are
The Institute for Somali Studies (ISOS) is a non-profit research centre within Mogadishu University, established on 5 March 2001 in Mogadishu. ISOS generates knowledge through research and analysis on Somalia, the Horn of Africa and Somali communities abroad, with a focus on the issues critical to Somalia’s recovery and rebuilding.
We conduct and coordinate research, workshops, conferences, discussions and dialogues, and disseminate findings through publications and events — working with institutions at national, regional and international levels.
To be a leading institute for Somali studies.
To engage in the rebuilding of Somalia through knowledge production and dissemination.
