Abstract
The Greater Horn of Africa (GHoA), a semi - arid to arid region, is highly vulnerable to global climate change and variability. Home to approximately 333 million people, with over 234 million living in rural areas and endowed with rich biodiversity, the GHoA faces severe impacts from climate extremes, COVID - 19, and locust invasions, which have left 80 million people food - insecure. This study aims to highlight the challenges posed by climate change in the GHoA and its effects on food security. It employs empirical data sourced from national and international agencies, complemented by journal articles, magazines, monographs and other periodicals. Findings reveal that the global climate change has assumed a crisis proportion in the region, driven largely by anthropogenic forces, and unleashing a humanitarian crisis. Therefore, the study proffers policy recommendations anchored in climate change mitigation and adaptation, climate - smart agriculture, global partnerships, capacity building, poverty reduction strategies, among other things.
