Using MIS for Environmental Monitoring and Sustainable Resource Management in Somalia

The environment of Somalia is under increasing strain due to deforestation, desertification, and water scarcity. MIS, which involve the systematic collection and processing of data, can significantly contribute to mitigating these issues by offering real-time data and insights that guide decision-making. This paper examines the role of MIS in environmental monitoring and sustainable resource management in Somalia. Successful implementation will require overcoming significant barriers, including infrastructure limitations and political instability. With the right investments in technology and capacity building, MIS can be a powerful tool in ensuring the long-term sustainability of Somalia’s natural resources.
